Richmond, Va Headshots & Portraits for Social Media | Creative Portraits for Small Businesses

I met Sarah while photographing her home for AirBnb Plus. Her house is so adorable and stylish and so is she! When she reached out a few months later to take photos for her up and coming interior design business, Goddard Collective, I was super excited. She’s so sweet, and her dog, Pete, is THE CUTEST. I’ve been working for GoDaddy Social for the last two years (I’m even one of their featured photographers!), taking photos for small businesses all over Portland and Richmond. It varies from spas to restaurants to construction companies to dentist offices. Every photo shoot is different, but the good news is that I have tons of experience photographing EVERYTHING now. I particularly love to see how my photos help small businesses grow. Photography is so important for social media and consistency to keep your customers interested. Having a beautiful portrait of yourself on your website helps your customers feel connected and engaged with your journey to success. They WANT to know you. And more importantly, these days people are even more interested in helping small businesses grow and are shopping small, which is so exciting!

RVA Headshots & Creative Portraits | Richmond, Va Portrait & Wedding Photography

These days, it’s so important to have unique and eye-catching photos to post on instagram or facebook, especially if you are a small business owner, an artist, musician, actor, etc. I get so many emails and messages asking if I do headshots that are a little more approachable than a traditional headshot. I like to describe this kind of shoot as a “creative portrait” session. It’s a blend of traditional headshots and stylized portraiture that truly captures your personality. I use a blend of film and digital photography to give my clients a variety of options to choose from. Not too long ago, I did a senior portrait session for Cole. He was interested in portraits that showcased his own personal style and reflected his aesthetic as a musician. He’s in a band called Flow Resale with his sister, Marigold. Pink Glam-onade Glitter Shoot | Emily Mazour & Tree Sphinx & Blair Doucette

I'm obsessed with this shoot. I've been on a hiatus of sorts when it comes to fashion shoots. When I first moved to Portland I did so many shoots that I burnt myself out. But lately, with the emergence of spring and the sunshine finally on its way, I'm feeling super inspired for the first time in years.

Emily Mazour was the creative genius behind Blair's pink and yellow hairstyle. Chelsea Sinks, also known as "Tree Sphinx", is responsible for the glitter and makeup magic. I recently acquired some new filters and experimented with Emily's ring light, and it was enough to convince me that I needed a ring light of my own (which I'm purchasing today)!
